Thank you to parents who participated in helping set up and gave of their time to help create this unique learning space. Home Reading: Please return home reading tomorrow. I am still assessing students reading levels. I am hoping to finish this week. Please continue to read using Raz kids in both languages and also current level home reading books. Today's learning and Spanish Art Culture Project: In Social Studies we are learning about our world and how we belong to it. We have learned definitions like: rights, responsibilities, groups, community, and belong. Today using technology we looked at different maps to learn where we live and how we belong. We identified the name of our city, province, country, continent, and world/planet. We made an activity book to show our learning. Please take some time tonight to continue looking at maps and ask your child if they can tell you each of these and identify them correctly. In Spanish, we have been focusing on developing strategies for reading. We have practiced breaking words into syllables. We practiced with activities to break the words into parts. Students have begun to demonstrate their skills by clapping out words into syllables. We have been learning about Spanish culture through art. Last week, we learned about Salvador Dali. We looked at a map to learn where he was born in Spain. We also learned some interesting facts about him. For example, he was a painter, sculptor, film maker (he worked with Walt Disney to create the movie Destino), jewelry designer, book illustrator, and also worked in theater. He was also very famous for his mustache for many reasons. Ask your child to tell you a story they learned about his mustache. Last week we created a portrait of Salvador Dali after collecting many facts and learning about him as an artist.
