For Tomorrow:
-Wear Pink tomorrow for Anti- Bullying Day. -Please return library books tomorrow. Home Reading I have begun to re-asses student's reading levels. Children may find their current reading level easy, please work on building comprehension at home. If you would like some ideas please contact me. Today's Learning: In Math, students did another 5 minute drill today. Please review their work and finish at home. In English Language arts we have continued to work on our project of The Three Little Pigs. We have been reading various versions of the story and making comparisons. Students have started writing their own version of The Three Little Pigs. We are working on: sequencing skills, developing ideas, matching story to pictures, creating original text, and learning to add details to enrich stories with descriptive vocabulary, character names, setting, problem, and solutions. In science we are learning about structures and continued our analysis of the Three Little Pigs by working to solve the problem Srta. Sandra asked us: If you were one of the pigs in the story, how would you build your house? After developing an understanding of types of materials and connectors students can use, they drew out their design today using 3 d- shapes and labeling the part of their house to map out their drawing. We have been collecting recycling materials for building and will continue to accept materials in the class. Students have also asked if they could bring materials from home like legos, blocks or other things they can use to build their structures. Please discuss at home if your child would like to use a material they find at home to build their house. As we finish doing our designs, we would like to welcome parent volunteers who can come to the classroom to help with building (ie. cutting etc). If interested, please email me. I would like start building this Friday afternoon if parents are available. Security clearance is necessary to volunteer.
