Swimming Field Trip Volunteers: We currently have 3 female volunteers and 0 males to help volunteer on the field trip from the information sent back by students. If more parents can volunteer it would be greatly appreciated to help with change rooms. Thank you kindly for the giving of your time.
Word Work (Spelling): New words have been posted until March. Please continue practicing. Today's Learning: English Language Arts: We have been learning and practicing good habits for writing through the Daily 5 program. This helps us build our stamina so we can complete our work and become a better writer. We have been practicing: - Finding a quiet spot - use a whisper voice to sound out words so others around us can also hear their own letter sounds - Getting all materials ( pencils, strategy tools ie finger spacer, sound charts etc) - Eyes looking at our notebook - Working the whole time - Finishing previous day's work if not done - G.U.M. ( When stuck on spelling a word, Guess- try your best to spell it, U- underline it so when meeting with the teacher we can ask her about it, M- move on to the next word so we can continue to write our ideas). Sometimes thinking of ideas to write about can be a bit tricky. We worked together as a class to think of writing ideas. Srta. Sandra wrote our ideas down to help us remember. Here they are: - Make a story with a beginning, middle, end. - Write a list (favorite foods, toys, animals etc) - Write about the weekend, upcoming holiday, special event like birthday or celebration - Write a letter using Dear____ to a friend, family member etc - Write about the day (what we are learning, play dates, recess etc) - Write about family or friends Homework: Brian storm at home other ideas/ topics you can write about and share with the class tomorrow.
