Jump Rope for Heart Our fundraising for the Heart and Stroke Foundation through Jump Rope for Heart will continue until Thursday May 31, and we continue to be amazed by the support and generosity of our Rosscarrock School community. As of today, we are pleased to announce that we have collected over $4500.00 in pledges and donations so far! If you are still returning pledge envelopes, please ensure that they arrive at the school by Thursday. All envelopes and collected donations will be picked up by the Heart and Stroke Foundation on Friday morning. Thank you Rosscarrock School! Library Today was our last day of Library for this school year. Some students forgot to return their books. Please return all library books to school. Students will continue with their home reading through the month of June. I am currently assessing students on their reading and hope to send new books home soon. Our Learning: Art In art we used our knowledge from what we have been learning about 3-D shapes in Science and Math to make paper sculptures. We explored different techniques using the 3-d paper techniques shown below. All students used their imagination and creativity to make different sculptural images they thought of while exploring the techniques. For example, some made amusement parks, others trapped doors, castles, parks, animals and many more things. Today students took home their sculptures. Anansi and the Pot of Wisdom In English, we have been working hard on our project. Before beginning making our story boards and re-telling the story in writing, students co-created checklists with Srta. Sandra. The checklists contain the criteria that students decided was important to show in their work. As they complete each phase of the project, students are checking the board to look that they have included all the steps. As students work on this project, they will receive feedback and will be given opportunity to improve their work. Math
In Math we have worked this week on solving the problem: Hay 24 estudiantes en nuestra clase. Cada estudiante tiene dos manos.¿Cuántos dedos hay en total en nuestra clase? (There are 24 students in our class. Each students has 2 hands. How many fingers in total are their in our class?) Hay 240 dedos in nuestra clase. / There are 240 fingers in our class. Students shared strategies of how they solved the problem this week.
